I’m Josep, the guy behind the Tooltester newsletter. After years of writing for Tooltester.com, I now share my favorite tools for creators, freelancers, and digital pros, tested & used by me. If it saves time or makes life easier, it’s in. And when I’m not testing tools, I’m on the tennis court, probably, getting hammered.

Hi, I’m Robert Brandl! I started out in a digital marketing agency, managing websites and email campaigns, and constantly searching for the best tools to get the job done. That’s what led me to create Tooltester, and later, EmailTooltester. I’m still obsessed with helping people find the right software without wasting time. Also: I never say no to a good coffee or a long bike ride.

How often will I get emails?

We only email you once a week, on Fridays, with stuff we genuinely think you’ll find useful. No spam. No distractions.

How do you pick the tools you review?

We’re tool nerds. Josep and the Tooltester team are constantly testing everything from AI writing assistants and video editors to Chrome extensions and no-code automation platforms. But we don’t just share anything, we only recommend tools we’ve personally used to build content, grow websites, automate repetitive tasks, or manage the boring parts of running an online business. If it doesn’t save us time or make life easier, it doesn’t make the cut.

Are the tools you feature shown in action?

Yes! We often include short demo videos that show exactly how the tools work, so you can see them in action before trying them yourself.

Most of these are recorded by me (Josep) or someone on our team, and they’re designed to be quick and offer an overview of what to expect.
